Refreshing Your Smile with Gentle & Thorough Care
When a tooth becomes infected or abscessed, severely decayed or injured, or a nerve is damaged, you may need a root canal. Symptoms of infection include:
- Painful chewing
- Heat/cold sensitivity
- Tooth discoloration
- Gum swelling, tenderness
- Or no symptoms; only a dental exam will discover it
Left untreated, a root canal infection can cause swelling in the face or neck, tooth loss, and infection draining into the gums, cheek or skin. The only alternative to a root canal is having the tooth extracted and replaced with a bridge, implant, or partial denture – far more expensive and time-consuming than a root canal.

DO YOU DO ROOT CANALS FOR CHILDREN?

ARE ROOT CANALS DONE UNDER SEDATION?
Root canals are typically done under one of three types of sedation:
- Minimal sedation, uses a mild sedative such as Nitrous Oxide to numb the patient.
- Moderate sedation is a deeper form of sedation that will still allow patients to respond to questions, though they are not asleep.
- Deep sedation will leave a patient unconscious, and is generally recommended for patients who are unable to tolerate dental treatment.
